This article continues our work on the etymology of the Baltic-Finnic lexicon in the context of ethnolinguistic contacts. It provides an overview of atlases of Finno-Ugric languages, with a particular emphasis on the materials of the “Linguistic Atlas of the Vepsian Language”. An analysis of Russian loanwords in the Karelian-Vepsian continuum is also presented. This article presents some of the results of this research. Historical dictionaries of the Russian language and various sources on both
Finno-Ugric languages and Russian dialects were used. Some materials were obtained during fieldwork on the languages and dialects of the Northwest. It is noted that the analyzed data offers various potential for etymological analysis.
